Baseball Thoughts

The Cubs get 155 games into the season with the Wild Card lead and cannot even close out the Mets or the Reds, with multiple blown saves. Goes a long way to confirm that LaTroy Hawkins is not a real good closer. The bullpen has been disappointing in the second half of the season, probably because Dusty Baker overworked them in the first half while the starters were injured.

Baseball in Washington....I guess that is okay for baseball....especially after MLB and Jeffrey Loria ran the Expos to the ground. Remember, 10 years ago, they were the best team in baseball with such stars as Pedro Martinez, Larry Walker, Moises Alou, and John Wetteland. The strike and subsequent cancellation of the World Series were the straws that broke this camel's back.
